ARSH-FATI: A Novel Metaheuristic for Cluster Head Selection in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of a large number nodes distributed over certain target area. The WSN plays vital role in surveillance, advanced healthcare, and commercialized industrial automation. Enhancing energy-efficiency the is prime concern because higher energy consumption restricts lifetime (LT) network. Clustering powerful technique widely adopted to increase LT reduce transmission consumption. In this article we develop novel ARSH-FATI-based Cluster Head Selection (ARSH-FATI-CHS) algorithm integrated with heuristic called ranked-based clustering (NRC) communication while efficiently enhancing Unlike other population-based algorithms ARSH-FATI-CHS dynamically switches between exploration exploitation search process during run-time achieve performance trade-off significantly considers residual energy, distance parameters, workload cluster heads (CHs) selection. We simulate our proposed generate various results determine terms LT. compare state-of-the-art particle swarm optimization (PSO) prove that approach improves by ~ 25%.
